South Pinellas Soccer Club

Community Through Soccer Excellence

The South Pinellas Soccer Club came into existence in 2007.  Formerly known as the St. Petersburg Soccer Club, SPSC teams have been participating in the FSSL Division 1 and Division 2 for the past 5 years.

The current SPSC Tavern (D2) team was formed in 2003 by Jay Law (manager/coach) and Iuri Herzfeld (trainer/captain) with the vision of forming a competitive soccer club where friendships arise from the common goal to achieve excellence.  During the mandatory start in the FSSL Division 3,  Tavern performed as expected  thanks to the hard work and leadership of players such as Buck Mills, Dana Nielsen, and Steve Loupin.   Although Tavern came a few points short of a D2 promotion during the first season, Tavern’s talent pool was not unnoticed.  Immediately after the end of the first season, Tavern manager was approached by Bayway Hurricane manager Rick Levering for a merger.  Through the merger between Tavern and Bayway Hurricanes lie the beginning of SPSC.

Currently in its fifth year as a club, SPSC has performed to the highest level earning a solid reputation as a top contender in the region.  Recent advances toward our goal of becoming a full soccer development organization involve the incorporation of a Division 3 team, and a working relationship with Pinellas Park Youth Soccer Association.
